The Pajero is probably the most obvious SUV to buy if you want the world to know you’ve got new money. From film starts to politicians, everyone in the who’s who at some point in time has flirted with the two-tone hulk. But that was some time ago. Today the Pajero is sold as a luxury SUV that’s assembled in India with the trappings of a bygone era. Despite all that, it’s a capable off-roader that can leave many an SUV scrambling for grip. Its high ground clearance and bullet proof 4WD system can get you out of trouble rather easily. It’s also spacious with very good ride quality thrown in. the diesel engine has good low-end torque but isn’t of the common rail variety. Top end performance is lackluster while handling can be termed ‘okay’, if you don’t care about it. It’s got its quirks, but it’s capable of making your cheeks pink.
